The Asa Wright Nature Centre is one of the most renowned birdwatching destinations in the Caribbean. Located in the Arima Valley of Trinidad's Northern Range, this 1,500-acre nature reserve offers visitors the opportunity to observe over 400 species of birds in their natural habitat.
Getting There
The Asa Wright Nature Centre is located approximately 45 minutes from Port of Spain. The drive through the Northern Range offers spectacular views and is an adventure in itself. Visitors can also arrange transportation through the centre.
Best Times to Visit
Early morning and late afternoon are the best times for birdwatching. The centre opens at 6:30 AM, allowing visitors to experience the dawn chorus when birds are most active.
Notable Species
Some of the most sought-after species include the Bearded Bellbird, Oilbird, and various species of hummingbirds. The centre's veranda provides an excellent vantage point for observing birds at the feeders.
